Although Alabama possessed another stout stop unit, limiting its foes to 53 points for the season, the Tide hardly could get rolling offensively throughout the season, scoring but 101 points and 39 of those came in the final game of the season vs. Vanderbilt.
A trip to New York City and a 7-6 victory over national power Fordham and its fabled "Seven Blocks of Granite" with Vince Lombardi line highlighted the season for the 5-3-1 Crimson Tiders. A TD by Jimmy Nelson and subsequent extra point by Sandy Sanford enabled the Tide to leave the Polo Grounds with one of the year's biggest upsets. Center Carey Cox earned All-American honors.
For the decade of the 1930s, Alabama finished with a record of 79-11-5. |

Notes: Record-wise this was the poorest team fielded by Thomas. The three shutouts suffered by the Tide and the 101 points for the season were lows during the Thomas Era. |
