John Forney, who served on the Alabama broadcast team from 1953-82, is returning as the play-by-play commentator for the 1988 season, it is announced today at the football complex by Crimson Tide athletic director Steve Sloan.

  Springfield College's Guy Lowman coached one year and his 1910 team broke even at 4-4, including a 9-0 Thanksgiving Day win over Washington and Lee, a team coached by Doc Pollard. Farley Moody starred in the win kicking a field goal (now worth three points) and scoring a TD on 50-yard punt return. The touchdown was still worth five points.  
 
Notes: Alabama plays Ole Miss in Greenville, Miss., and loses 16-0.
