Not only the first decade ended for Alabama but so did the four year coaching career of Coach Pollard and for the fourth straight time, his team lost one game during the season. Overall, Alabama was 5-1-2 in Pollard's swan song season with the lone defeat coming in the season finale, a tough 12-6 loss to LSU on Thanksgiving Day in Birmingham.
Alabama was undefeated and unscored on through its first six games beating Union College 16-0, Howard 14-0, Clemson 3-0 on a 49-yard field goal by Derrill Pratt, Georgia 10-0, and Tennessee 10-0 and tying Ole Miss 0-0. After a 5-5 tie with Tulane, Alabama, handicapped by the loss of its star player and captain Derrill Pratt, lost to LSU.
Pollard concluded his Alabama career with a record 21-4-5 and for the first decade of the 20th Century, Bama was 45-23-7. |
