The first game between Alabama and Auburn occurred on George Washington's birthday, Feb. 22, 1893 in Birmingham. Auburn won that initial contest 32-22. It should be noted Alabama wore white shirts with red lettered U of A on them along with red stockings, and Alabama fans had covered the Caldwell Hotel with red and white banners.
Officially, the February game was listed on the '92 schedule since it was the 1892-93 school year. In the fall semester, Bama was treated even more rudely by Auburn losing 40-16 in Montgomery. It marked the end to a 0-4 season under playing coach Eli Abbott. |

Notes: Bama plays first out-of-state foe, losing 20-0 to Sewanee in Birmingham. |
