Coming off an upsetting loss to Mississippi Southern in Montgomery a week before the Tide travelled to Baton Rouge to meet the Tigers of LSU and shutout the tigers 12-0. Bart Starr connected with Corky Tharp for a 15 yard touchdown in the first half to go on top 6-0. In the second half Cecil "Hooty" Ingram ran a for a 68 yard touchdown to provide the final points in the game. The Tigers were held to just 109 yards of total offense in the game and we held scoreless despite recovering 4 Alabama fumbles. The 1954 squad finished the season with a 4-5-2 record in Coach Red Drew's final season as head coach for the Tide. |
